As you may have read on this blog, I joined King less than 5 months ago, but on the 31 January 2014, the day of my birthday, I decided my experience there had to come to an end and I resigned.
My decision was strongly influenced by the recent events related to their approach to trademark filings and other things which I can’t disclose here, but which showed me the true corporate nature of the company. I’m not saying they’re evil or they’re doing anything much worse than many other big companies, but I don’t feel comfortable with such things and I don’t want to be part of them, so I decided to go my way, easy like that.
Nevertheless I met great developers and great people there and I’m happy I had this experience, but now it’s time to move on.
My dream has always been to run my own games company and to be an independent developer, and even if I already tried and failed that in 2011, now I’m confident enough (or crazy enough) to want to try that again.
In the next months I’ll be working to make that happen, one way or another, and even if it will take a while I’m sure something will happen before the end of this year.
Quoting one of my favourite songs from one of my favourite bands, the “A Day To Remember”, I’m “Right Back At It Again“.
